HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A water conservation restriction is in place for North Kona residents on Hawaii Island.
Hawaii County’s Department of Water Supply has implemented a mandatory 10 percent water restriction for customers in the following areas:
DWS said the conservation orders are a result of a temporary loss of power in the upper North Kona area. They added that reducing water use by 10 percent will preserve levels to meet needs of necessary use only, such as drinking, cooking and hygiene needs.
Officials will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed.
They urge residents to use water sparingly until the request is lifted.
